9 Ways To Get Back Your Energy

It’s the end of another week. Needless to say, I’m absolutely exhausted, both physically and mentally. I always say I’ll use the weekend to relax. That way I’ll be refreshed and ready to take on the coming week. But then come Wednesday I find myself in the same situation. So what gives? It turns out daily routines like checking email and even the way you sit all zap your energy.
Here is a list of 9 things you should start doing regularly to prevent this from happening:
1) Don’t check messages all the time – Those blips and beeps that pop up throughout the day are distracting and overwhelming to keep up with. Limit the amount of times you check your messages (email, voicemail, IMs, etc) to a few times a day. If the thought alone makes you nervous, then start with once every hour.
2) Keep things tidy – Visual clutter causes stress whether you realize it or not. Instead of getting work done, your eyes are constantly wandering from mess to mess making you feel powerless. Start by clearing piles off of tabletops, counters, etc. and you’ll feel better in no time.
3) Stay busy – Some chores and tasks are simply BORING! Naturally you procrastinate and remain unmotivated which takes a lot out of you. Recruit a friend to help you get out of the funk. Encourage each other to complete projects and pretty soon you’ll feel the high that comes when finishing something.
4) Sit up straight – If you slump forward in chairs, your muscles contract and blood flow becomes impaired. As a result you don’t get enough oxygen to your brain which makes you tired. Whenever you sit down, make sure your legs are firmly on the ground, your arms are at right angles to the table and your shoulders are down.
5) Get fresh air – Chemicals from your computer, appliances, etc as well as those from cleaning products and other scented items gradually build up over time, affecting your body’s detox system. Don’t stay cooped up inside – step out every so often. But when you return take off your shoes so you won’t drag even more toxins into your home.
6) Avoid epic meals – Take care to eat small meals throughout the day. You are likely to overeat if you only stick with three large meals. Chances are you’ll eat the wrong kinds of foods, too.
7) Take in some sun – Sunlight sends your brain wake up signals. A brisk walk is enough to boost energy levels dramatically.
8) Remain upbeat – Other people’s negativity is very tiring to put up with. Do your best to steer clear of complainers and other shady people. Remind yourself of all you have to be grateful for.
9) Forgive others – Anger and resentment are very toxic emotions that leave you feeling tense and weary. Remember, it takes more energy to hold a grudge than to forgive one.
I’d love to hear if these tips work for you!
